What AURIO wants to do.

This page explains our programme in plain language.

Short sentences. One idea at a time.

Who we are

AURIO is a political party in Greece.

We believe Greece has everything it needs to be better.

It has the people. It has the land. It has the money.

What it needs is a political culture willing to use them.

We want to change that.

The problems

Over 500,000 young Greeks left the country.

Most have not come back to the regions.

Almost everything in Greece is controlled from Athens.

Energy costs are very high. Communities do not own their own power.

People do not trust the government. They feel they have no say.

Border regions like Evros do a lot for Europe but get very little back.

Racism is a problem that stops Greece from growing.

Our twelve policies

What we will do about it.

01 Food
  • Greece imports food it could grow itself.
  • We want small farms to work together.
  • We want towns to buy local food first.
  • We oppose the EU-Mercosur trade deal. It hurts Greek farmers.
02 Energy
  • Greek families pay very high energy bills.
  • We want communities to own their own energy.
  • We want solar panels in villages.
  • EU money exists for this. Greece is not using it.
03 Economy
  • Money spent locally stays local. Money spent at chains leaves.
  • We want more support for businesses outside Athens.
04 Democracy
  • 7,000 cities let residents decide spending. Greece has zero.
  • We want real budget power for residents in every town.
  • Real decisions, not just meetings.
05 Education
  • Greek schools focus on exams and memorisation.
  • The best students are trained to leave.
  • We want to trust teachers more and test less.
  • Practical skills should equal university degrees.
06 Border Regions
  • Evros hosts a gas terminal, a military base, and a border. Lesvos and Samos host migration centres. The host communities get little back.
  • We want a law: host infrastructure, receive investment.
07 Culture
  • People leave where there is nothing to do. Culture keeps them.
  • We want to fund music, events, and community life.
  • This is not a luxury. It is a basic need.
08 Foreign Policy
  • Greece should work with Europe, not depend on one country.
  • We want cooperation with Turkiye through shared interests.
  • We support international law. No exceptions for anyone.
09 EU Reform
  • The EU Parliament cannot propose laws. It should.
  • Small farmers should get more support than big farms.
  • Regions should access EU funds directly, not via Athens.
10 Governance
  • 22% of Greek MPs are women. We alternate men and women.
  • Racism costs Greece talent. We will name it and change it.
11 Healthcare
  • Greece spends billions on health. Most goes to Athens.
  • Rural Greece (Evros, Crete mountain villages, the Mani): one doctor per 800.
  • We want a health centre in every town.
  • We want triple the mental health budget.
12 Social Security
  • Pensions cut 13 times. A generation locked out of work.
  • Greece has a big surplus. The money is there.
  • Minimum pension above the poverty line.
  • Every town guarantees healthcare, heating, water, internet.

What happens first

In the first year, these five things happen.

  1. Three towns start letting residents decide how to spend part of the budget.
  2. Communities get the legal right to make and sell their own energy.
  3. Every AURIO candidate list alternates men and women.
  4. A new rule is proposed: if your region hosts European infrastructure, you get investment.
  5. Funding starts for health centres in towns that do not have one.
